This is probably the most popular island in the Hawaiian archipelago. Most people get reminded of surfing, waves, beach activities. It is true. It would be unimaginable here to live without surfing, it is a part of the Hawaiian lifestyle. Just like in Australia. Youngsters and older too, hold their surfing boards. But here there are so many things to see.. Where should I start... hmm. If you wish to check out the entire island, it is the best to check for the excursion that lasts 9 hours ... yes, to see and hear hell of things! First destination is the mountain Haleakala, some 3,500 meters above Maui which is the main tourist attraction as well.
While you go up there, you realize they give you a ride through the clouds, even the weather changes several times on the way up. And when you come to the top, huh what a breathtaking scene! You are mostly above clouds. Just like looking through the airplane window… Amazing feeling! There is a small centre at the edge of the silent volcano wherefrom there is a beautiful view to a part of the crater and the clouds getting inside of it, and you are above all that! Unexplainable feeling. You must try it! It is very difficult to pas the thrill you feel with words now, so definitely check out the picture gallery… The highest observatory in the world is also here, extremely helpful to the human civilization in gaining new cognitions about the universe.
You can descend with a bicycle, as a part of the Maui Bike excursion. It’s a thrill! 38 miles of descending down the mountain where you can grab crazy speed… Only for the brave ones! Do not forget to wear warm clothes because if you don’t you’ll end up petrified on the bike!
Ok, we’re down, and have had enough adrenaline. A myriad of beaches, just pick the side of the island where to go. Kahalui is the name of the biggest town, mixture of Far-Eastern and American culture. You can smell the American influence by large malls, big cars... You have everything you may need for a normal life including the international airport. Anyway, every Hawaiian island has an airport. On the other side of the island there is Lahaina, place that used to be the capital of Hawaii. There is nothing much to write about it, it resembles places on the Croatian coast. You can check out the entire place from the helicopter, what is a special feeling that one pays 200 US dollars.
I was so disappointed with the night entertainment. Everything closes around 11 or twelve, and a “bar” open Kahalui. I have imagined this to be different, expecting a wild night tour I did not take it well. Not just me...
Just go to Maui!!! |
